US Commerce Department Bans Anthropic's Fable 5 — Globally

The US Commerce Department ordered Anthropic to take Fable 5 and its underlying Mythos 5 model offline on June 12, citing national security concerns after a reported jailbreak allowed restricted cybersecurity information to be extracted. Anthropic received roughly 90 minutes to comply and disabled access for every user worldwide — it could not filter by nationality across its delivery infrastructure. Databricks Launches Genie One, Genie Agents, and Genie Ontology

Databricks introduced a sweeping upgrade to its AI analytics platform: Genie One is a data-smart AI coworker with Slack, Teams, and mobile integrations; Genie Agents lets any team build autonomous, domain-specific agents over structured and unstructured data; and Genie Ontology is an automatic context layer that maps business knowledge so agents answer with full accuracy. Android 17 Launches with Gemini Omni, Lyria 3, and More AI Features

Google shipped the final release of Android 17 to Pixel devices on Tuesday, alongside Wear OS 7. The update brings Gemini Omni for conversational video editing, Lyria 3 for text-to-music generation, and AudioLM-powered speech-to-speech translation on the Pixel 10a. Google's Quick Share file-sharing feature also gains AirDrop compatibility with Apple devices on select older Pixels. JetBrains Open-Sources Mellum2 — A 12B MoE Coding Model for Air-Gapped Environments

JetBrains released Mellum2, a 12-billion-parameter Mixture-of-Experts coding model under the Apache 2.0 license, targeting teams that cannot send source code to external APIs — compliance-locked infrastructure, finance, healthcare, and air-gapped networks. The model's Thinking variant scores 69.9% on LiveCodeBench v6 and supports context windows up to 131,072 tokens via YaRN. Pre-quantized GGUF versions are available on Hugging Face for llama.cpp and Ollama. Source →

Z.AI Releases GLM-5.2 with a 1 Million-Token Context Window

Z.AI (formerly Zhipu AI) dropped GLM-5.2, a 744B-parameter MoE model with a 1 million-token context window — five times larger than its predecessor — optimized for coding and long-horizon agentic tasks. The model weights are live on Hugging Face under an MIT license, making it one of the few open-weight models capable of processing book-length inputs in a single pass. API access is priced at $1.40 per million input tokens and $4.40 per million output tokens. Source →
