Agentic AI crossed a major threshold today — your AI assistant can now literally buy things for you. Both OpenAI and Coinbase announced separate but complementary tools that put real financial power in the hands of AI agents. Pair that with a $12B industrial AI raise, a landmark Anthropic enterprise partnership, and a $10B+ AI infrastructure launch, and June 12th is one of the bigger single-day news cycles of the year.

Visa has embedded its global payment network directly into ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to browse, select, and complete purchases on users' behalf at any Visa-accepting merchant worldwide. Users link their Visa card to ChatGPT and can configure spending limits, merchant restrictions, and approval steps. Coinbase introduced a new platform that allows AI agents like ChatGPT and Claude to execute crypto trades, rebalance portfolios, and make autonomous machine-to-machine payments for digital services — with no human required. The company's underlying x402 payments protocol has already processed over 100 million transactions since launching in May 2025, with roughly 157,000 active buying agents in the past 30 days. Prometheus, the industrial AI company co-founded by Jeff Bezos and former Google exec Vik Bajaj, closed a $12 billion Series B round at a $41 billion valuation. Investors include JPMorgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, DST Global, and Arch Venture Partners — an institutional roster that signals serious conviction in AI applied to heavy industry and engineering. Anthropic announced a multi-year alliance with DXC Technology — one of the world's largest IT services firms — to deploy Claude across mission-critical systems for banks, airlines, insurers, manufacturers, and government agencies. DXC will certify tens of thousands of forward-deployed engineers to implement Claude at client sites. The company reports Claude generated more than 95% of the code for its OASIS platform, which now serves over 50 enterprise customers, and sped up software development by a factor of 10. Source →

A new venture called Helix Digital Infrastructure Inc. launched today with over $10 billion in capital commitments from KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia, and energy utility Vistra. Helix will build large-scale AI data centers for hyperscalers using Nvidia's DSX infrastructure suite, with Vistra serving as preferred power provider across its 44-gigawatt generation capacity.
